It is currently midway through Jan 2023 as I type up this blog post, so it is in no way shape or form a new year’s resolutions list. However, this post is a gentle reminder.
The reminder that, if we are intentional about our goals and our purpose, then a lot can change in a year.
As I slowly edge closer to the end of my 20s, I often find myself reflecting on the past, whilst using the hard-learned lessons to become more intentional about my future. And throughout this process, I realized just how much your life can change in the span of a year.
In the span of a year, you could make those small changes to your daily rituals and create lasting habits that will help you build a better version of yourself. Or you could make the same decisions and pray for a different outcome.
In the span of a year, you could decide to spend an hour or so every other evening building on a creative side hustle, or you could stay in an endless loop of a 9-5 at a place that no longer serves you.
In the span of a year, you could train your brain to become more resilient and creative by fueling it with the right kind of material (even if that meant that you only listened to one new podcast every week), or you could stay closed off to a world of alternative possibilities.
So yes. While resisting the urge to hit that snooze button might be hard. While making the small changes that matter may make you want to launch yourself through a brick wall. Just imagine how different those end-of-year reflections will look when you are able to look back on the year and say that you actually did what you said you were going to do.
